Since its establishment on 2009, considerable progress has been made towards establishing the Ramsar Centre for Eastern Africa (RAMCEA) as a viable regional institution. This includes, but not limited to the following: • Development of a ten-year strategy Strategic Framework for the Eastern Africa Region, running from 2011 – 2020. Development of the strategy involved relevant stakeholders through a participatory process, including workshops, regional planning meetings and consultations at various levels. This strategic framework is intended to guide operations of RAMCEA in the Eastern Africa region, and stipulates the vision, mission, core values, overall goal, strategic objectives, actions, milestones, assumptions and risks. • Launching of the RAMCEA website; • Training of Ramsar Site Managers from Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi and Uganda • Establishment of the Secretariat • Cross dialogue with other initiatives at internationa llevel, E.g A side event co-organised with Niger Wet at the 11th meetings of the Conference of Parties to the Ramsar Convention
